The Client: Gaia University
Gaia University is an international online institute training leadership for ecosocial regeneration. Working passionately with world changers to create strategic projects and regenerative livelihoods, Gaia U has been at the forefront of Permaculture education for over a decade.
The Challenge: Website Redesign
We were approached by Gaia University to redesign their website. As an online university, a professional website is a must. The existing website for Gaia University felt patched together, outdated and overwhelming from a visitor’s perspective. We needed to perform this redesign while maintaining the live website for current and potential students to access. Although redesigning a website is often more complicated than starting from a clean slate, we were excited to embark on this unfamiliar adventure with Gaia U.
Our goal was to create a visually rich “above the fold” section that clearly communicates Gaia U’s mission.
We wanted the user experience to be visually interesting while simultaneously highlighting the benefits that Gaia U delivers.
The Gaia U tribe are action oriented, environmentally conscious people. We wanted to speak directly to them both visually and verbally.
We worked to emphasize the strength, advantages and freedom Gaia U’s remote online programs allow to those who seek to learn from anywhere they are in the world.
Gaia U’s graduates are a force of its own, we chose to highlight their stories and action to inspire future students.
Rebranding Educational Offerings
We felt that the formal degree names weren’t inline with Gaia’s offerings. We wanted to align the names of the educational programs with the nature of the experience they offer.
We rebranded the names of Gaia U’s programs to reflect their unique character and we added elements from the natural world to support the brand identity.
One of our challenges was reorganizing information. We wanted to make it easy for students to find information on the website and to be able to intuitively understand the offerings.
